With the world slowing down a bit, have you noticed the buzzing in the trees? Have you wondered what type of bees we have here in London and do you want to know how to identify them?
Join Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park for a donation-based, early summer bee identification walk. Local bee recorder Mark Patterson will take you on a tour, imparting his knowledge on the summer’s seasonal bees which make the cemetery park their home.
You’ll learn how to identify bees (beginners are welcome) and how to submit your sightings to contribute to scientific understanding of bees in London.
Mark grew up in the Northeast and took an interest in nature and the environment from a young age. After studying ecology at University Mark has had a career spanning 17 years working for wildlife charities, local and national government and now works as a part time bee inspector for DEFRA whilst running his own business Apicultural.
Mark is a trustee for the London Beekeepers Association, sits on the British Beekeepers Association special interest group on forage and leads on planting initiatives for pollinators in London.
To register for this event, visit Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park’s Eventbrite page to sign up.
When you arrive, meet at the Soanes Centre (on the right as you enter).
